Hallmarking & Dealers Notice
Hallmarking is your guarantee of quality.
Hallmarks are only applied after the item has been tested to verify the precious metal content. Three marks are then applied to the piece of jewellery - the registered mark of the maker, the precious metal content of the piece, and the mark of the Assay Office where it was tested.
My personal makers mark is registered with the Edinburgh Assay Office. A silver item under the weight of 7.78g does not require Hallmarking by law, however I choose to Hallmark every piece of jewellery I make regardless of weight.
More information on Hallmarking can be found on the website of the Edinburgh Assay Office, and the Hallmark Guarantee notice, displayed on the website for your information.
